In Italian, “centrodestra” (center-right) and “estrema destra” (far-right) are entirely distinct terms; they are not interchangeable. Even the Italian-language Wikipedia classifies FdI as destra radicale (radical right), not as “estrema destra” (far-right). You may debate the party’s historical roots or policy positions—but if you lump together a democratically elected governing party as “far-right,” you have a responsibility to explain your political definition, Nikkei. FdI, led by Prime Minister Meloni, officially identifies as centrodestra (center-right); even its party name includes “Centrodestra Nazionale.” Are you suggesting that the majority of Italian voters chose a “far-right” party? Are you implying that most Italians are “far-right”? If you insist on labeling an Italian party elected by its people with a strong, foreign-term label that contradicts local political usage, you must provide your justification. Criticism is fine—but equating voters with such a classification shows a lack of respect for Italy’s democratic choice. Never write “far-right” again.
