Funding is still positive while the market bleeds — that's the anomaly. $BTC down 4.3% to $63,041, ETH down 4.4% to $1,867, yet both print positive funding. The perp crowd is paying to stay long into the move. Same story across SOL, SUI, LINK, HYPE — all positive funding, all red candles. Longs are stubborn, not capitulating. The exceptions are more interesting. APT funding is deeply negative at -0.00002675 with the worst 24h drop (-5.4% to $0.56) — shorts have piled in. DOGE at -0.00001057 with 346M OI also flipped short-heavy. ARB barely negative. When funding inverts after a flush, the easy directional edge is usually gone. HYPE is the lone green print (+1.5% to $52.23) with 22.3M OI and +0.0000125 funding — actual relative strength, not just short squeeze. Countertrade read: don't join the dip-buying chorus paying funding. If you want exposure, the negative-funding names (APT, DOGE) offer a better long setup mechanically, while high positive-funding majors are still extracting carry from trapped longs. Levels that change the picture: BTC losing $62.8k forces OI-heavy long liquidation. ETH under $1,840 does the same. On the flip, APT reclaiming $0.57 or HYPE holding $51.50 would invalidate the weakness.
