📈 Wall Street Insight #009 | Investment Diary Last night, I only intended to briefly check the earnings report. But before I knew it, I was still reading past 2 a.m. I wonder if anyone else has felt this way. Previously, when I looked at AI companies, I was most excited about product launches. Now, I’d rather wait for the earnings reports. Because launches talk about the future. Earnings reports talk about what has already happened. Over the past two years, I’ve noticed something interesting: Many companies claim they’re using AI. But the ones that truly make me want to dig deeper aren’t the ones talking the most— it’s the ones saying little but have already delivered profits. Sometimes, after reading the earnings report, I’ll watch the earnings call, and I’ll notice analysts keep pressing: “How much revenue has AI actually generated?” If management gives a specific answer, I’ll pay extra attention. If they dodge the question and keep talking about vision, I know the company is still just telling stories. I used to get excited by a single product launch. Now, I remind myself: Wait until next quarter’s earnings come out. After all, the market can react in advance, but profits don’t appear ahead of time. The biggest change over these years, perhaps, is that I’ve become more patient. When I see a company I like, my first reaction isn’t to buy immediately— it’s to observe a few quarters first. Sometimes, slowing down makes it easier to see clearly. ⸻ I wonder if this is just what happens after investing for a while. Before, I chased news. Now, I chase earnings reports. Before, I feared missing an opportunity. Now, I fear misjudging a company.
