BNB Chain Developers announced that BSC achieved sub-second finality at 0.65 seconds, a nearly 70x improvement from the previous 45 seconds, through four incremental upgrades addressing specific bottlenecks. The upgrades via BEPs 126, 590, 648, and 667 introduced a layered consensus separating block production from cryptographic finality using BLS signatures, extended voting rules, in-memory pools, and periodic voting to optimize speed without compromising liveness. Developers and apps on BSC benefit automatically with no EVM changes needed, enabling faster bridge transfers, near-instant exchange deposits, and real-time DeFi/payments applications.
