According to The New York Times, two consecutive heads of the Polish cryptocurrency exchange Zondacrypto (formerly BitBay) went missing within four years. Founder Sylwester Suszek disappeared in 2022, and his successor, Przemyslaw Kral, has been missing since April of this year. Before his disappearance, Kral stated that the exchange held approximately 4,500 BTC, valued at over $300 million, but the access keys to the relevant wallets were held by the missing Suszek. Zondacrypto subsequently became embroiled in disputes over customer assets and withdrawals and is now under investigation by Polish prosecutors. The virtual asset service license of its operating entity, BB Trade Estonia, was revoked on June 29 by Estonia’s Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).
