CoinMarketCap reports:

Salt Lake City, October 19 (Reuters) /PRNewswire/ — Zions Bancorporation, N.A. (Nasdaq: ZION) (hereinafter referred to as "Zions" or "the Bank") today announced net income attributable to common shareholders of $262 million for the third quarter of 2026, with diluted earnings per common share of $1.78. In comparison, net income for the third quarter of 2025 was $221 million, with diluted earnings per share of $1.48; net income for the second quarter of 2026 was $452 million, with diluted earnings per share of $3.05.

Harris H. Simmons, Chairman and CEO of Zions Bancorporation, said, "Earnings per share increased 20% to $1.78 in the third quarter, up from $1.48 a year ago. The higher earnings primarily reflect improved credit quality, as net loan charge-offs amounted to $3 million, compared to $56 million a year ago. Despite loan growth remaining flat compared to the second quarter due to accelerated loan prepayments and intense market competition, customer deposits increased nearly 10% on an annualized basis versus the second-quarter level."

Simmons also stated, "In the final month of this quarter, short- and medium-term interest rates began to rise. We expect our moderately asset-sensitive balance sheet to generate stronger net interest income in a higher interest rate environment, while we are seeing continued improvement in non-interest income and anticipate this trend to continue into next year."

Simmons concluded, "We are pleased to have completed the acquisition of Basis Multifamily Finance I, LLC, a subsidiary of Basis Investment Group, at the end of July. This multifamily finance platform will be a key strategic advantage for serving our commercial real estate clients, particularly in the rapidly growing Western markets we serve."
