Huo Xing Cai Jing reports, according to CoinDesk, Zcash holders must withdraw approximately $16 million from Sprout, the oldest privacy pool on the network, prior to the NU7 network upgrade. The upgrade is expected to activate around 10:30 AM Beijing Time (9:30 PM Eastern Time Thursday), after which these tokens will become unusable even if the holder possesses the valid private key. As of Thursday morning, approximately 12,226 ZEC remained in the Sprout pool, valued at roughly $16 million based on a price of $1,300 per ZEC. NU7 will activate at block 3,543,405 and will reject version 4 transactions—the only transaction format capable of spending Sprout tokens. ZIP 2003 preserves the theoretical possibility of restoring access through a future upgrade, but warns that the ability to spend these tokens may never be re-enabled. NU7 will also reduce the target block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds.
