Yapeswap suffered a $21,900 loss after an attacker exploited a governance flaw in the WorkersUnion mechanism. The vulnerability allowed a proposal with just 0.000055% voting power to transfer YapeFactory’s feeToSetter permission. The attacker then deployed a malicious Registry contract, tricking the latestVault() function into returning a fake vault address, while the real vault remained listed in the vaults() array. This caused YapePair to treat deposits as farm assets without issuing redeemable shares. The incident underscores risks in the crypto market and adds Yapeswap to the list of altcoins to monitor.

PANews, October 25: According to SlowMist monitoring, Yapeswap suffered an attack resulting in losses of approximately $21,900. The root cause was a quorum requirement of zero in the WorkersUnion governance mechanism, allowing a proposal backed by only about 0.000055% of voting power to transfer the feeToSetter permission of YapeFactory to the attacker. The attacker then deployed a malicious Registry contract that caused latestVault() to return a forged vault address while vaults() continued to list the legitimate vaults. As a result, YapePair counted the transferred deposits as farm assets without issuing redeemable shares, ultimately leading to fund loss.
