XRP network activity surged in August, with daily active addresses climbing 35% to 35,700. Whale activity also rose, as large holders added 32% more XRP in three months. New user growth, however, stayed flat at 2,260 per day. Xaif Crypto pointed out the imbalance between active users and new entrants. XRP trades near $1.01, with price yet to reflect the on-chain strength.

XRP Network Activity Is Rising, But New Users Aren’t

XRP is showing a puzzling split, given that the network is getting busier, but its user base is barely expanding. Therefore, this gap is becoming harder to ignore with XRP trading near the $1 mark.

Market analyst Xaif Crypto highlighted that XRP’s daily active addresses jumped 35% in August, averaging about 35,700 per day versus 26,400 in July. Yet new addresses have remained nearly flat at around 2,260 per day.

In other words, existing users are doing more while relatively few new participants are joining.

Why does this distinction matter? Well, Rising active addresses can signal stronger network usage as users transfer XRP, trade, interact with applications or move assets between wallets. But it does not necessarily mean fresh capital or new demand is entering the market.

According to CoinCodex data, XRP is trading at $1.01, leaving the token near its weakest levels in recent months. Network activity is picking up, but price momentum has yet to follow.

Why Rising Activity Hasn’t Lifted XRP

Realistically, more activity does not automatically create buying pressure.

The same users can become much more active without increasing their XRP holdings. They could be trading more frequently, moving tokens between exchanges or interacting with different parts of the XRPL ecosystem.

This helps explain how XRP can record stronger on-chain activity while its price continues to struggle.

The bigger concern is the lack of new-address growth. If new addresses were rising alongside active addresses, it would offer a stronger signal that adoption is broadening and fresh users are entering the ecosystem.

For now, this confirmation is missing.

Whales Add Another Layer

Large XRP holders, however, appear to be taking a different view.

Data cited from Santiment shows that wallets holding at least 1 million XRP increased by 32% over the past three months, even as XRP’s market capitalization declined.

What could this indicate? Well, some large holders are using the weakness as an opportunity to accumulate.

The result is an unusual setup whereby whales are adding, existing users are becoming more active, but new-user growth remains subdued.

The Missing Bullish Signal

The next important metric for XRP may not be another spike in active addresses. It could be new-address growth.

If new users start entering the network at a faster pace while existing activity stays elevated, the current divergence could become a much stronger bullish signal.

Until then, XRP’s network is busy, but it isn’t necessarily expanding.

With XRP hovering around $1.01, the market may be waiting for one missing piece: evidence that rising network activity is translating into broader adoption, fresh demand and stronger price momentum.
