ChainCatcher report: Xpeng Motors’ (NYSE: XPEV) robotics subsidiary has signed a share purchase agreement with investors to raise over $900 million, resulting in a post-money valuation exceeding $6.3 billion. Xpeng stated that this marks the largest single financing round in China’s robotics sector to date. The round is led by IDG Capital, with strategic participation from Tencent and Alibaba, as well as participation from Gao榕 Capital and others. In terms of funding structure, external investors contributed approximately $600 million, Xpeng’s subsidiary invested around $200 million, and entities related to CEO He Xiaopeng and Co-President Gu Hongdi contributed approximately $100 million. Xpeng will retain approximately 82% controlling equity and consolidate the business financially. The funds will be used for the development of the flagship humanoid robot IRON, the construction of embodied AI and data capabilities, and scaling production and business expansion ahead of late 2026. IRON is powered by Xpeng’s proprietary robotics and AI-specific chips. The subsidiary is Dogotix, Xpeng’s robotics platform focused on robotic dogs and humanoid robots.
