On-chain news broke on January 15, 2026, as X product lead Nikita Bier announced an updated API policy. The platform is now blocking applications that reward users for posting, a strategy often associated with spam and AI-generated content. X has already cut off API access for these apps and encouraged developers to contact the platform for assistance in migrating to Threads or Bluesky. This move aims to support ecosystem growth by enhancing content quality and aligning developers more closely with the platform's goals.

BlockBeats news: On January 15, X product lead and Solana ecosystem advisor Nikita Bier stated, "We are revising our developer API policy: applications that reward users for posting on X (so-called 'InfoFi') will no longer be allowed. These mechanisms have generated a large amount of low-quality AI content and reply-based spam on the platform.

We have revoked the API access of these apps, so your experience on X will improve soon (once the bots realize they can no longer make money from posting).

"If your developer account is therefore terminated, please contact us proactively, and we will assist you in migrating your business to Threads and Bluesky."
