World Liberty Financial has launched USD1 natively on Canton Network, adding its dollar stablecoin to infrastructure for regulated markets. The move allows institutions to use USD1 for the cash side of tokenized asset transactions, with atomic settlement and Canton’s privacy and compliance controls. The launch expands USD1’s availability across institutional financial activities.

USD1 Adds Dollar Settlement on Canton

USD1 is issued by BitGo Bank & Trust, National Association, and has surpassed $4 billion in circulation since March 2025. The stablecoin remains fully backed by short-term U.S. Treasurys, government money market funds, dollar deposits, and other cash equivalents.

On Canton, institutions can use USD1 for collateral, derivatives, lending, and cross-border payments. The stablecoin can also support asset issuance, funding, redemptions, and financing across markets.

More than $9 trillion in tokenized assets are issued or processed on Canton each month. Meanwhile, more than $350 billion in U.S. Treasurys move across the network daily.

Institutions Gain Another Settlement Option

According to World Liberty Financial, USD1 can settle alongside tokenized assets through atomic transactions. The setup keeps the dollar leg under the same privacy and compliance controls used by those assets.

Zak Folkman, World Liberty Financial’s co-founder and chief operating officer, said tokenized assets have expanded faster than their dollar settlement infrastructure. Folkman said institutions now hold trillions in tokenized Treasurys and government debt. However, settlement still creates timing gaps that can tie up capital.

Digital Asset co-founder Eric Saraniecki said additional stablecoin options give institutions more flexibility. He added that USD1 expands available choices for funding and settlement across Canton applications.

Canton operates as a public, permissionless blockchain, while individual applications define their privacy, permissions, and governance. Only relevant transaction participants can view and validate their respective information.

USD1 Remains Fully Reserve Backed

BitGo manages USD1’s reserves and processes its minting and redemption. The bank operates under federal regulation and received authorization from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency.

The reserve assets include short-term Treasury securities, government money market funds, U.S. dollar deposits, and other cash equivalents. BitGo also provides USD1 issuance and custody infrastructure across supported networks.

World Liberty Financial said USD1 can now serve as a dollar settlement option for institutions using Canton.
