Pleasanton, California, October 19, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Workday, Inc. (Nasdaq: WDAY) announced that its trusted platform for HR, finance, and IT has been named a Leader in the 2026 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Cloud ERP for Finance. A complimentary copy of the report is available here.

Workday Financial Management enables finance teams to take action based on real-time data, rather than waiting until after closing. Workday states that by integrating financial data, business processes, and AI into a single platform, it helps organizations close faster, strengthen controls, and gain the insights needed to drive growth. Workday says its customers include thousands of institutions worldwide, such as Ochsner Health, Opera, Skyscanner, and the University of Melbourne.
Max Wessel, Senior Vice President of Workday, said: “In finance, there is no such thing as ‘close enough.’ We believe this recognition validates what we hear daily from CFOs—that they want real speed and intelligence, but never at the expense of trust and control.”
Workday states that, as the only vendor rated as a Customers' Choice in Gartner Peer Insights™, it helps finance teams reduce the time spent on reconciliations, accruals, and gathering audit evidence, allowing them to focus more on making decisions based on these numbers. Workday achieves this by:
- Embed governance into every process. Workday states that its agents are “designed to be compliant by default.” They follow the policies, permissions, rules, and business processes that companies already have in place, enabling them to anticipate issues, suggest next steps, and take action within each company’s boundaries. This allows finance teams to achieve automation speed without compromising accuracy or accountability.
- Insights that drive business actions. With Workday Decision Intelligence, finance teams gain an AI-powered tool that connects real-time human, financial, and planning data—eliminating the need to sift through spreadsheets or outdated exports. Teams can ask questions in natural language, receive answers based on real-time data, compare different options, and take action within their existing Workday permissions. Workday says this means finance teams spend less time explaining “what happened” and more time deciding “what to do next.”
- Enhanced control by reviewing more transactions earlier. Workday states that companies can continuously test transactions flowing through their financial systems, enabling errors to be identified and corrected earlier, before issues escalate. The Financial Test Suite evaluates transactions against the company’s policies and rules, flags any anomalies, and maintains clear documentation of what was tested and why. This helps finance teams shift from reactive sampling to early detection, when issues are still easy to resolve.
- Faster, more reliable close. Workday says the company has introduced AI agents into the close process, transforming how teams work by shifting them from manual preparation to review and approval. These agents coordinate overall workflows, monitor preparation status, identify risks, and support numbers with clear evidence. Agents such as the Financial Close Agent and Financial Audit Agent can manage close activities, flag issues requiring human judgment, and automatically collect audit evidence. Workday says this enables finance to move from last-minute chaos during close to being ready every day—without removing accountants from key decisions.
