Huo Xing Finance reports that on October 4, according to The Wall Street Journal, the White House has established a "Super Intelligence Force," chaired by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton. The task force will assess the risks and opportunities of AI within 120 days, clarify the responsibilities of the federal government, and examine how to ensure U.S. leadership in the field of "super intelligence" while safeguarding the public interest. The task force continues to regard the AI industry as the primary force in managing technological risks, but will collaborate with companies to identify risks and opportunities, and review existing laws and potential congressional actions. Its charter requires developing strategies to address societal threats related to super intelligence, while avoiding excessive regulation or regulatory capture that could stifle innovation and competition. The task force will also evaluate early warning systems and government notification mechanisms for incidents such as data breaches, cyberattacks, and model jailbreaks. The task force has three vice chairs responsible for coordinating with AI companies, key infrastructure and other industry stakeholders, and issues related to consumers, children, privacy, and free speech. Members include Vice President Vance, Secretary of Defense Heger, Secretary of the Treasury Bessent, and White House Chief of Staff Wells. David Sacks and former U.S. Secretary of State Rice will serve as external advisors providing input. The work may be extended beyond 120 days if necessary, or transferred to other government agencies.
