According to Digital Assets, the Korean blockchain platform WEMIX issued an official announcement on July 27 acknowledging a security incident involving the smart contract of its stablecoin, WEMIX$ (WEMIX Dollar). The incident occurred at 6:18 p.m. on July 26, when the ownership rights of the WEMIX$ smart contract were compromised, resulting in the unauthorized minting and transfer of approximately $6.25 million (around 870 million KRW) in WEMIX$ to external addresses. WEMIX stated that it has identified the suspected addresses used in the attack and is conducting on-chain tracking. The company is also collaborating with major exchanges and blockchain security firms to monitor the movement of the stolen assets and will cooperate with law enforcement authorities if necessary.
