PANews, July 27: The Korean blockchain gaming platform WEMIX has updated its status regarding anomalous transactions and response measures. The investigation revealed that ownership of contracts related to WEMIX was compromised; the attacker unauthorizedly minted approximately 5,225,525 WEMIX$, which were subsequently exchanged for about 30,736 WEMIX and 724,198.27 USDC.e. The stolen USDC.e was transferred via a bridge to Ethereum and BSC, converted into assets such as ETH and USDT, and partially deposited into centralized exchanges. The attacker’s wallet and fund movements have been traced, and requests are being made to exchanges and stablecoin issuers to freeze the assets. The exact cause is still under investigation, with the team and external experts conducting a comprehensive review and examining related and similar contracts.
