Huoxing Finance reports that on October 21, payment network Visa announced three new capabilities in San Francisco aimed at boosting commercial card growth, enhancing virtual card security, and automating business payments—targeting financial institutions, fintech companies, and enterprises. Darren Parslow, Global Head of Visa Commercial Solutions, stated that businesses are accelerating the automation of payment-related processes, from identifying supplier opportunities to approving invoices and executing transactions, and these capabilities are designed to deliver the necessary data, security, and control. The three capabilities are SESA 2.0, Visa Commercial Fraud Solutions, and live pilots with the billing platform BILL and accounts receivable platform Billtrust. SESA 2.0 combines AI-driven supplier scoring, Visa commercial payment data, buyer benchmarks, and commercial value modeling to help identify suppliers more likely to accept commercial cards and estimate growth opportunities. Visa states that since its launch, SESA has helped financial institutions identify over $600 billion in potential card-eligible spending. Visa Commercial Fraud Solutions encompasses supplier verification, authentication of commercial virtual card users via 3-D Secure, and transaction-level controls including spending limits, merchant category codes, locations, and timing. Payment controls are already available to eligible issuers in supported countries and regions, while the other two features are currently in pilot and scheduled for full rollout by 2027. Visa also noted that the pilots with BILL and Billtrust are now live, enabling trusted AI agents to initiate and facilitate approved invoice payments via supplier portals using tokenized payment credentials, without relying on shared portal login credentials.
