ChainCatcher report: Utexo, the issuer of USDT on the Bitcoin ecosystem, has announced early access to Utexo Mint for professional operators preparing to support and provide USDT on Bitcoin, with a public launch scheduled for November 28. Utexo stated that existing partners are already preparing for the launch and that access is currently open to professional operators—including exchanges, wallets, market makers, OTC desks, and trading firms—interested in supporting USDT on Bitcoin. Utexo Mint is a dedicated platform for verified operators to mint and redeem USDT on Bitcoin. Within a sandbox environment, operators can test the operation of RGB-based USDT, including minting, confidential transfers, and redemption, to validate transaction flows and complete integrations prior to launch. Utexo will also provide tools for managing USDT liquidity across supported networks and for converting fiat to USDT. Utexo Mint is not owned or operated by Tether; USDT on Bitcoin is backed by Tether’s USDT0 protocol. USDT was first launched on Bitcoin in 2014, and this return will bring stablecoin liquidity to the ecosystem and enable new use cases such as trading and BTC-collateralized lending. Utexo emphasized that USDT on Bitcoin is introduced by Utexo, not Tether, and is designed with privacy in mind—RGB-based USDT avoids address reuse. For compliance, Utexo will monitor all incoming USDT, check AML scores, and monitor risks on the RGB side, while collaborating with Crystal Intelligence for AML efforts. The rollout will occur in two phases: On November 28, USDT will be publicly available on Bitcoin via RGB and accessible through partnered wallets and exchanges; the second phase, planned for Q1 2027, will extend USDT to the Lightning Network for payments.
