Utexo announced on-chain news: USDT on Bitcoin is now in testing via Utexo Mint, open to verified operators. The platform uses RGB for minting and redemption, with a sandbox for confidential transfers. Public launch is set for November 28. Utexo partners with exchanges and wallets to bring Bitcoin news and dollar liquidity to the Bitcoin layer. Phase one enables RGB-based USDT, with Lightning Network support planned for Q1 2027.

Utexo has opened Utexo Mint for professional operators preparing to support USDT on Bitcoin. The public launch is scheduled for November 28. Utexo Mint allows verified operators to mint and redeem USDT on Bitcoin.

The platform's sandbox lets operators test minting, confidential transfers and redemption through RGB. The testing period should allow operators to check transaction flows and complete integrations before the public launch. Utexo says existing partners are already preparing for the launch. Utexo is accepting exchanges, wallets, market makers, OTC desks, trading firms and other professional operators interested in supporting USDT on Bitcoin.

USDT's return creates an opportunity to add dollar liquidity to Bitcoin's ecosystem and develop markets for trading and BTC-backed lending. A press release says early integration can help operators attract initial demand and gain market share as adoption increases. Utexo said additional tools will let operators manage USDT liquidity across supported networks and convert between fiat currency and USDT. Utexo said those tools will give operators more flexibility in obtaining and transferring funds.

Tether neither owns nor operates Utexo Mint. USDT on Bitcoin is backed by USDT through Tether's USDT0 protocol. Utexo clarified that Utexo, rather than Tether, is launching USDT on Bitcoin. USDT originally launched on Bitcoin in 2014.

The press release says the Bitcoin implementation will let individuals hold and transfer funds without making transaction details public. Unlike the implementation on EVM blockchains, RGB's USDT avoids reusing addresses, a practice that may expose holders to quantum computer risks. The press release says businesses will be able to keep sensitive commercial activity private while retaining controls needed for regulatory compliance. Asked how privacy can coexist with sanctions compliance and law enforcement requirements, Utexo said Utexo monitors incoming source USDT and checks anti-money-laundering scores. Utexo said Utexo also monitors risk on RGB and partners with Crystal Intelligence for anti-money-laundering checks.

The rollout has two phases. The first phase begins on November 28, when USDT becomes publicly available on Bitcoin through RGB. Partner wallets and exchanges will provide access, adding liquidity for swap providers and lending platforms. Utexo says the second phase, planned for Q1 2027, will extend USDT to the Lightning Network for payments.
