According to HashNews, in the week ending December 18, Circle issued around 4.7 billion USDC while redeeming about 6 billion USDC, leading to a 1.3 billion drop in circulation. Total USDC supply now stands at 77.2 billion, backed by 77.5 billion USD in reserves. This includes 53.3 billion in overnight reverse repurchase U.S. Treasury securities, 14.3 billion in short-term Treasury holdings, 9.2 billion in systemically important institution deposits, and 0.7 billion in other bank deposits. The move aligns with ongoing efforts under EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation to enhance transparency and compliance, including Countering the Financing of Terrorism measures.
