BlockBeats report, November 2: U.S. Democratic senators accused Elon Musk’s social media platform X of favoring the prediction market Polymarket. In a joint letter first disclosed by Semafor, Senators Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen of Nevada, Adam Schiff of California, and Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut wrote: “Typically, X allows users to report advertisements for a variety of reasons. However, when users attempt to report Polymarket’s ads through X’s standard interface, the reporting option is unavailable. This issue does not occur with other types of advertisements, including those from Kalshi.”
This letter, accompanied by screenshots, alleges: “This seemingly unfair special treatment raises questions about whether X is attempting to provide Polymarket with an unfair competitive advantage, thereby benefiting President Donald Trump and his family.” Donald Trump Jr., son of Donald Trump, has invested in Polymarket and serves as an advisor to the platform.
