ChainThink reports that, on August 6, according to an official announcement, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will establish a specialized unit within its Enforcement Division to investigate accounting and financial reporting fraud, as well as general misconduct in accounting and auditing.
The team will collaborate with relevant SEC divisions and office staff to ensure that the enforcement of federal securities laws aligns with the Commission’s policy objectives. The announcement states that the team will be led by Timothy Zimmerman.
Zimmerman joined the SEC’s Enforcement Division in May 2026 as Senior Advisor.
