Odaily Planet Daily report: Crypto KOL Phyrex posted on X that retail trading sentiment in the U.S. has recently shown a clear shift. Data shows that retail investors net sold stocks for four consecutive trading days last week—the longest such streak this year—with technology stocks facing the heaviest selling pressure, totaling approximately $7 billion in net outflows for the week. Two of the three largest single-day retail sell-offs of tech stocks in history occurred last week. The selling was concentrated in the semiconductor and memory chip sectors, which had previously been the primary targets of retail buying in May and June.
Meanwhile, the assets under management of U.S. technology leveraged ETFs have decreased by approximately $50 billion from their June peak, while leveraged ETFs related to South Korea and Taiwan have seen their sizes decline by more than half. SOXL, the 3x leveraged ETF tracking U.S. semiconductors, has dropped about 67% from its peak, and trading volume for the 2x leveraged ETF on South Korea’s SK Hynix has fallen by more than 90% from its high.
