ChainThink reports that on July 16, according to Sina Finance, the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) voted to initiate a Section 337 investigation into certain dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) devices and downstream products and components (II), with investigation number 337-TA-1511.

The complaint alleges that the relevant products violate Section 337 of the U.S. Code during export to the United States, import into the United States, and sale in the United States, involving U.S. registered patents No. 12,646,537 and 12,650,937, and requests the ITC to issue a limited exclusion order and a cease and desist order.

The named defendants include South Korea’s Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., U.S.-based Samsung Electronics America, Inc., Samsung Semiconductor, Inc., Google LLC, Super Micro Computer, Inc., NVIDIA Corp., and Broadcom Inc.

The ITC will determine the target date for the conclusion of the investigation within 45 days after institution. Unless vetoed by the U.S. Trade Representative on policy grounds, the remedial orders issued by the ITC in a Section 337 case take effect upon issuance and become final 60 days after issuance.
