The University of Michigan’s final December consumer sentiment index rose 1.9 points to 52.9, below the expected 53.5, as fear of missing out on big-ticket purchases remains muted. The current situation index hit a historic low of 50.4, while the expectations index climbed to a four-month high. Bullish sentiment on major spending remains at an all-time low.
