PANews, September 17: Hayden Adams, founder of Uniswap Labs, stated that SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, in her latest comment letter, said, “Truly decentralized systems driven by automated software do not require an exemption,” implying that standard permissionless AMMs—such as the main Uniswap protocol—are not subject to this exemption. The SEC’s exemption provisions primarily target permissioned pools in Uniswap v4, providing a pathway for compliant AMM trading of specific assets and users in the United States. Adams noted that Uniswap will submit a comment letter with proposed improvements to the rules.
