Odaily Planet Daily reports that a British man named "Chris" has recovered 61 bitcoins after 12 years of legal proceedings following the 2014 shutdown of the UK cryptocurrency exchange Intersango; the bitcoins are currently worth approximately $4.4 million.
Chris purchased the above bitcoins in 2011 and subsequently left the assets custodied on the exchange without transferring them to a self-custody wallet. Intersango, formerly known as Britcoin, was one of the first exchanges in the UK to offer pound sterling-bitcoin trading.
Ryan Sweetnam, Director of Financial Litigation at CEL Solicitors, assisted in recovering the relevant assets; the law firm submitted the required documents to U.S. courts within four months, ultimately achieving restitution through negotiation. Chris said he now opens his Bitcoin wallet about 20 times per day. (Bitcoin.com News)
