According to ME News, on July 23 (UTC+8), after three years of cracking down on cryptocurrency tax evasion, HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) recovered over £8 million in taxes through settlements with hundreds of cryptocurrency investors. Data obtained via a freedom of information request shows that over the past two years, 502 cryptocurrency investors reached disclosure and settlement agreements with UK tax authorities regarding unpaid taxes. In the 2024/25 tax year, 280 individuals reached settlements with HMRC, paying a total of £3.5 million.
