Qatar’s ministry confirmed a draft agreement is under circulation. U.S. Secretary of State Rubio expressed optimism. Despite this, shipping remains risky due to attacks in the region. Crypto news analysts suggest a resolution could ease energy pressures, though tensions persist.

BlockBeats news, on August 5, the situation in the Middle East continues to draw attention. Positive signals have emerged from negotiations between the U.S. and Iran regarding the resumption of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, but no formal agreement has yet been reached.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson stated that negotiations with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz have made "positive progress" on both technical and political levels. The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that drafts of a potential U.S.-Iran agreement are currently being circulated among the parties, but there is no confirmed agenda for direct U.S.-Iran negotiations; communication between the two sides continues through intermediaries, and the timeline for reaching an agreement remains uncertain.

U.S. Secretary of State Rubio stated that progress has been made in negotiations between the United States and Iran regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, expressing hope that an agreement could be reached soon. Sources indicated that arrangements for the full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz may be announced within hours or by the next day.

It is reported that Iran’s proposed interim plan may grant Tehran control over vessels entering the strait, while Oman would be responsible for coordinating the passage of departing vessels. Meanwhile, Iran is reportedly considering allowing European countries to participate in mine clearance in the strait and may charge European nations maintenance fees.

Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz remains risky. The Iraqi Ministry of Oil stated that tankers carrying Iraqi crude have passed through the strait; however, other reports indicate that an Indian vessel sank after being attacked by a drone boat near Hodeidah, Yemen, and the Greek cargo ship "Minos Pioneer" was hit by a missile on the Omani side, causing a fire in the engine room and resulting in one crew member missing.

The CEO of the American Petroleum Institute stated that approximately 7 million barrels of oil are transported daily through the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. Central Command reported that, as of August 4, U.S. forces had rerouted 45 commercial vessels, rendered two vessels inoperable, and boarded and inspected two commercial vessels.

Regarding the conflict, Iranian President Pezeshkian stated that Iran will defend its territory but does not seek to continue or expand the war. According to Reuters, the U.S. Army has consumed a large number of long-range land-based missiles during the war with Iran.

Additionally, the Houthi armed group claimed to have launched a drone strike on a "sensitive target" at Najran Airport in southwestern Saudi Arabia. In Israel, Netanyahu stated that Israeli forces will not withdraw from Gaza until Hamas is fully disarmed; Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem said the resistance movement will continue its operations.

On the market front, as expectations of diplomatic de-escalation rise, international oil prices have recently declined noticeably. Analysts believe that if arrangements for the passage through the Strait of Hormuz are ultimately implemented, they could ease energy supply pressures; however, long-standing U.S.-Iran tensions and regional security risks have not been fully resolved.
