Odaily Planet Daily reports: U.S. Attorney Daniel N. Rosen of Minnesota announced that Raymond Christian Garcia and Isiah Angelo Garcia, from Waller, Texas, have been sentenced to 180 months and 186 months in prison, respectively, for their roles in the September 2025 armed kidnapping of a family in Grant, Minnesota, and the subsequent extortion of cryptocurrency.
Court documents show that on September 19, 2025, the two individuals traveled from Texas to Minnesota, armed themselves, broke into the victim’s home, bound the family members with zip ties, and held them at gunpoint for over nine hours, forcing them to surrender access to their cryptocurrency accounts. After failing to obtain the expected amount, they compelled the victim to drive to a vacation home owned by the family in northern Minnesota, where they retrieved additional cryptocurrency storage devices and transferred funds, ultimately forcing the victim to transfer over $8 million in cryptocurrency. After the victim’s son called the police, the two fled the scene but were later identified and arrested by law enforcement near Houston, Texas. Both individuals pleaded guilty in June 2026 and were sentenced on October 29.
