Huo Xing Finance reports that global semiconductor foundry giant TSMC has released its second-quarter 2026 financial results. Benefiting from strong global demand for advanced-node chips driven by AI infrastructure development, TSMC’s quarterly performance significantly exceeded market expectations. Revenue reached NT$1.27 trillion (approximately $40.2 billion), up 36% year-over-year; net profit hit NT$706.6 billion (approximately $22 billion), a substantial 77.4% increase compared to the prior year and far surpassing the market’s prior estimate of NT$623.7 billion. Additionally, the company’s gross margin reached 67.7% and its operating profit margin stood at 60.3%, both exceeding forecasts. In terms of process mix, advanced nodes (7nm and below) collectively accounted for 77% of total wafer revenue this quarter. Among these, 3nm and 5nm processes contributed 30% and 33% respectively, while 7nm accounted for 11%. Notably, TSMC recorded its first revenue from 2nm advanced nodes this quarter, contributing 3% to total revenue. Looking ahead, TSMC confirmed that its 2026 capital expenditure will approach a record-breaking $56 billion, with approximately $265 billion planned for investment in its advanced manufacturing campus in Arizona, USA. TSMC CEO C.C. Wei stated that current capacity expansion still lags behind demand, and the supply-demand imbalance is expected to persist for several years. Meanwhile, despite TSMC’s strong financial performance, the market continues to maintain a degree of caution and concern regarding whether massive AI investments by tech giants will translate into tangible returns and how the long-term competitive landscape will evolve.
