IT Home, October 17: According to Taiwan’s Economic Daily yesterday, TSMC Chairman and CEO C.C. Wei stated at a briefing on the 15th that demand for AI continues to rise, with a significant supply-demand gap remaining. He added that TSMC’s U.S. dollar revenue for this quarter reached a new record, with full-year U.S. dollar revenue expected to increase by approximately 44% year-over-year.
Wei Zhengjia emphasized that TSMC is fully committed to expanding production, as market demand remains strong and continues to grow. “TSMC’s profitability has no ceiling,” he said, but this will not happen overnight. TSMC’s philosophy and strategy have always been to collaborate with customers, helping them succeed in order to realize its own value.
Wei哲jia stated that AI applications are evolving from chatbots to AI assistants, with increasing adoption of AI agents. The proliferation of open-source models is also enhancing efficiency and lowering barriers to entry, driving greater demand for advanced chips. In addition to AI accelerators, demand for AI central processing units (CPUs) and network communication chips continues to rise, creating new business opportunities for TSMC and its customers.
According to previous reports from IT Home, TSMC's net profit for the third quarter of 2026 was NT$763.06 billion (IT Home note: approximately RMB 157.725 billion at current exchange rates), representing a 68.7% year-over-year increase; the gross profit margin for the quarter was 66.4%, the operating profit margin was 58.7%, and the net profit margin was 51.1%.
