In accordance with Jin10, U.S. President Donald Trump has suggested that he may seek to remove four Federal Reserve governors appointed by former President Joe Biden if their nominations were signed by an automatic signing machine. Trump, at a political rally in Pennsylvania, claimed he heard the appointments might have been auto-signed and vowed to investigate. He also asked Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to look into the matter. Trump has previously attempted to revoke Biden-era executive orders signed via the same method, with little success. Legal challenges are expected if any Senate-confirmed appointments are invalidated. The Fed declined to comment. The use of auto-signers dates back to the 1940s and was legally affirmed by the Department of Justice in 2005. Trump has also expressed frustration with the Fed's slow pace of interest rate cuts and hinted at reshaping the Fed's leadership after Chair Jerome Powell's term ends in May 2026.
