While the previous week of trading saw significant gains across the market, with Bitcoin (BTC) rising 24%, Ethereum (ETH) 31%, and XRP 50%, few major cryptocurrencies soared as much as the OFFICIAL TRUMP (TRUMP) meme coin.
Specifically, the commander-in-chief’s digital asset rallied 75% within just seven days, surging from $1.39 on August 18 to $2.43 at press time on Tuesday, August 25.

The upsurge came in part from President Donald Trumpurging Congress to pass the highly anticipated CLARITY Act, while also reiterating that his Administration could build a strategic Bitcoin reserve.
Optimism was further fueled by reports that the CFTC is ready to quickly create rules to provide market clarity, even if U.S. legislators fail to pass the vote ahead of the midterms.
Perhaps even more remarkably, TRUMP meme coin’s gains occurred despite the team behind the cryptocurrency engaging in significant insider selling.
Indeed, the insiders have been dumping OFFICIAL TRUMP by adding and removing liquidity, overall extracting $3.4 million worth of the USDC stablecoin across 10 hours, per a LookonchainX post published late on August 23.
Is the OFFICIAL TRUMP meme coin a good buy after 75% weekly rally?
Still, despite the overall strong rally within the last week, the team selling has had an impact on price, considering the meme coin reached its recent high of $3.28 on August 22, shortly before the significant insider trading started, and has retraced 25.91% since.
Elsewhere, despite the strong performance in the last seven days, OFFICIAL TRUMP remains one of the least worthwhile large cryptocurrencies to invest in overall.
Despite being above the price it launched at shortly before President Donald Trump’s second inauguration in 2025, the digital asset is 96.78% below its all-time highs (ATH) above $75, recorded as the billionaire Republican was enjoying his official welcome into the White House.
Furthermore, and through the occasional upward move, the meme coin has been on a decisive downtrend over the vast majority of its existence.
