ME News reports that on July 30 (UTC+8), last summer, digital payment company ALT5 Sigma—now renamed AI Financial Corp.—entered a partnership with the Trump family’s crypto platform, World Liberty Financial, purchasing $750 million worth of WLFI tokens issued by World Liberty. In return, World Liberty acquired an equity stake in ALT5 and appointed Zach Witkoff as chairman. Following the deal, the company’s market capitalization surged from approximately $100 million to over $1 billion, but after nearly a year, the hype has faded: its market cap has dropped below $600 million, putting it at risk of delisting from Nasdaq. The price of the purchased tokens has fallen from 20 cents to around 6 cents per token, resulting in losses of over 90% for investors. The report states that the transaction generated over $500 million in revenue for the Trump family. According to Trump’s latest financial disclosures, he earned over $1.4 billion from cryptocurrency-related activities last year, with over $550 million attributed to World Liberty alone. In response, spokespersons for Trump’s two sons stated that they “had no involvement in any aspect of ALT5,” and the White House affirmed that the president’s assets are managed by an independent third party, with no conflict of interest.
