Odaily Planet Daily reports, according to two informed sources, President Trump is expected to appoint current U.S. Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton as the new White House AI advisor (“AI Czar”), with the decision potentially announced as early as Friday local time. White House officials responded that any personnel appointments will be directly announced by Trump himself, and related reports prior to the official announcement are “baseless speculation.”
Clayton is expected to continue serving as Director of National Intelligence; previously, Clayton served as Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and led the SEC for much of Trump’s first presidential term. Last month, Trump announced plans to establish an “AI Force” and appoint an AI affairs director to address regulatory discussions surrounding the rapid development of AI; Trump had previously told Axios that Clayton is well-suited for the position.
