BlockBeats report: On July 31, political analyst Nate Silver stated that President Trump’s approval rating has dropped to its lowest level since his second term, due to the unpopular ongoing war in Iran and surging gasoline prices. He said, “The timing aligns closely with the resumption of the conflict in Iran and rising natural gas prices.” As the war approaches six months in duration, data from the American Automobile Association (AAA) shows that, as of Friday morning, the average U.S. gasoline price was approximately $4.11 per gallon, up from about $3.15 a year ago.
According to Decision Desk HQ’s polling average, as of Friday morning, Trump’s overall average approval rating was 40.6%, with an average disapproval rating of 57.5%. A Quinnipiac University survey found that 60% of U.S. voters oppose the war, the highest level of opposition since the conflict began on February 28. Nearly three-quarters of Americans say they do not support sending U.S. troops to Iran. The AP-NORC poll also showed that 64% of Americans believe the war is “not worth it,” with 87% of Democratic voters, 37% of Republican voters, and 68% of independent voters holding this view.
