On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Katie Zacharia, attorney and conservative commentator for Trump Media & Technology Group, will serve as the next White House Press Secretary.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: "I am pleased to announce that Katie Zacharia will begin serving as Press Secretary tomorrow—Columbus Day—and will hold an introductory press briefing at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the White House Press Briefing Room."
He also wrote: "Katie has been with me in spirit from the start, and she will do an amazing job!"
Zakaria, who describes himself as a "die-hard Trump supporter," will succeed Karoline Leavitt. Leavitt left the Trump administration in late August. After taking maternity leave earlier this year following the birth of her second child, she is expected to join Fox News next month as a television commentator.
According to Zachariah’s LinkedIn profile, she has been serving as a senior communications advisor for Trump Media since June. Trump Media owns Truth Social, the president’s preferred social media platform.
Her profile also indicates that she served as General Counsel for Fix California, a conservative advocacy group founded by Richard Grenell. Grenell is currently President Trump’s Special Envoy for Presidential Missions and previously served as director of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Zakaria concluded a two-month tenure as a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in March.
Zakaria's IMDb page lists dozens of appearances on Fox News political talk shows and other conservative media outlets.
