ME News reports that on October 30 (UTC+8), Trezor issued a notice stating that its security team confirmed a Trezor Safe 5 hardware wallet, purchased through the Southeast Asian authorized distributor CryptoBilis, is suspected of having been compromised via a supply chain attack. An additional circuit board, cellular communication module, and antenna were implanted, enabling the device to read information displayed on its screen and transmit it over mobile networks.
The device was purchased in August 2026 via the Indonesian e-commerce platform Tokopedia. Trezor has not yet received the device for laboratory testing, but based on the user’s description and video interview, the report is considered credible. There have been no reports of user funds being stolen. The official advisory warns that users who purchased hardware wallets through CryptoBilis since March 2026 should migrate their assets to a wallet created with a new mnemonic phrase as soon as possible.
