The national class action law firm Edelson Lechtzin LLP is investigating data privacy claims involving Tradier Brokerage Inc., an online brokerage headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina. Anyone who received a breach notification or believes their information may have been compromised can apply for a free case evaluation.
What happened?
On August 28, 2026, a cyberattack targeted Etna Software Corporation, a third-party vendor that provides Tradier with the order management system and pre-trade controls used to operate its brokerage business. Tradier stated that it became aware of the incident on September 3, 2026. Tradier also stated that its internal network was not compromised at any point during the incident and remained secure; the breach was limited solely to systems and data held by Etna.
Tradier has begun notifying affected customers via email and has disclosed the incident to the California Attorney General. According to regulatory filings, as of now, the incident has impacted 9,404 Texas residents and 1,580 Massachusetts residents. Tradier stated that it is reviewing its third-party partnerships and data minimization initiatives.
What information might be leaked?
According to Tradier Brokerage, the personal information that may be accessed includes:
- Full name
- Address
- Phone number
- Social Security Number
- Tax identification number issued by the government
Since Social Security numbers and tax identification numbers are among the most sensitive categories of personal information, their exposure increases the risk of identity theft and financial fraud for affected individuals.
Who might be affected?
This investigation focuses on Tradier Brokerage customers whose personal information was stored in the Etna system and used for Tradier Brokerage’s operational activities. Tradier has arranged for Cyberscout (a subsidiary of TransUnion) to provide up to two years of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection to affected individuals; eligible persons must register within 90 days of receiving the notification letter.
Choice of Law
Edelson Lechtzin LLP is investigating a potential class action on behalf of individuals whose data may have been compromised. If the case is successful, it could result in compensation for losses such as time lost, out-of-pocket expenses, and infringement of privacy rights, and may prompt Tradier Brokerage to strengthen its data protection measures. The law firm offers a free case evaluation.
