According to ChainCatcher, TrendForce’s latest semiconductor foundry industry report shows that the combined revenue of the top ten global foundries in the second quarter of 2026 increased by 11.5% quarter-over-quarter to nearly $53.49 billion, setting a new record. The growth was primarily driven by continued strong demand and supply shortages for advanced nodes used in AI and HPC processors, as well as rising demand for peripheral AI chips such as PMICs and power discrete devices. Pre-stocking by consumer supply chains for TVs, PCs, and laptops also tightened capacity in some mature nodes. TSMC maintained its leading position with second-quarter revenue of nearly $40.2 billion, up 12.1% quarter-over-quarter, capturing a 72.5% market share. Demand for AI server GPUs and XPUs filled its 5nm, 4nm, and 3nm capacities, while initial inventory buildup for the new iPhone contributed as well, with 2nm nodes generating revenue for the first time. Samsung Foundry ranked second with revenue of $3.26 billion, up slightly by 1.8% quarter-over-quarter, with its market share declining to 5.9%. SMIC ranked third with revenue exceeding $3 billion, a significant 20% quarter-over-quarter increase, raising its market share to 5.4% and narrowing the gap with Samsung. UMC held fourth place with revenue of nearly $2.18 billion, up 12.7% quarter-over-quarter, with a 3.9% market share. GlobalFoundries ranked fifth with revenue of approximately $1.79 billion, up 9.3% quarter-over-quarter, holding a 3.2% market share. Hua Hong Group ranked sixth with revenue exceeding $1.27 billion, up 3.5% quarter-over-quarter. Tower, Vanguard International Semiconductor, JCET, and Powerchip ranked seventh through tenth, with revenues of $460 million, $451 million, $447 million, and $432 million, respectively.
