ChainCatcher report, according to Kintex, Tokyo inflation accelerated for a second consecutive month, increasing the likelihood that the Bank of Japan will raise interest rates again in the coming months. Data from Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications showed that Tokyo’s core CPI rose 1.9% year-over-year in July, above the market expectation of 1.8%. The “core-core CPI,” which excludes fresh food and energy, increased by 2%, while the overall CPI also rose 2%. Takeshi Minami, Chief Economist at the Agricultural and Forestry Central Bank Research Institute, stated that inflation is expected to remain above 2%.
