ChainCatcher report: On November 3, Toady Hawk, a member of the Base Security Council, announced on X that he has accepted the position of CEO at Clanker, a token issuance platform, to lead its revival. He stated that Clanker is now managed by Mask Network, which also oversees Firefly and Lens Protocol, and that collaboration with the engineering team is already underway to advance the reboot, with further details to be announced soon. Toady Hawk recalled that Clanker originated approximately two years ago on Farcaster, where users could issue tokens by posting on their timelines and tagging the platform. The platform later expanded to X and at one point became the highest-volume token issuance platform on Base, with associated communities including BNKR, DRB, and FAIR. He noted that the platform subsequently underwent a series of changes—including early founder disputes, a sale to Farcaster, and handover to Neynar—and has been affected by multiple transitions over the past roughly 18 months. He added that he has been self-employed since age 17 and generally prefers to run projects he founded himself, but has accepted this role. Among his initial priorities are: updating the brand while preserving its original character, improving external communication, and working with the engineering team to align features with those of current leading issuance platforms—including stock pairs, new chain support, and an unnamed first-day support feature. Other goals include rebuilding trust with builders and trading communities, supporting early-stage communities still in development, and bringing new issuance activity back to the feed. He also stated that he will assist projects planning to issue meme tokens, stock pairs, or application tokens, and collaborate with developers seeking to build further on the Clanker protocol. The official Clanker account responded on the same day, stating that the reboot is loading.
