Crypto news platforms report that TikTok is developing a new peer-to-peer payment feature for private message transfers. Code from the U.S. version of the app reveals a clear interface allowing recipients to accept payments before expiration. Senders can track transaction status through notifications or their inbox. The system supports adding messages during transfers, similar to Venmo. A TikTok representative stated the feature is in early development and has not yet been tested anywhere. TikTok Pay is already live in parts of Asia for in-app purchases, though the P2P rollout has not been confirmed. Stay updated with cryptocurrency news for more details.

BlockBeats report, August 19: TikTok is developing a peer-to-peer payment feature that will allow users to send money to each other via direct messages, with evidence sourced from the U.S. version of the TikTok app code. The code indicates that the interaction design for this feature is already quite complete. Recipients can “tap to accept” payments before they expire, while senders can receive transaction status updates via push notifications or their inbox. The feature also supports adding messages to payments, similar to PayPal’s Venmo.

A TikTok spokesperson stated that the feature is currently not being tested in any market and remains in early development. TikTok Pay is currently available only in Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand for payments on TikTok Shop, and there is no guarantee that peer-to-peer payment functionality will ultimately be launched.
