PANews, August 27: The Sandbox has released a post-incident analysis of the exploit on August 22, in which attackers exploited a vulnerability in the Base and BSC bridge contract, stealing 14,742,341.84 SAND tokens (approximately 0.5% of the maximum supply) from the Ethereum treasury. SAND on Ethereum and Polygon remained completely unaffected, with the total supply unchanged at 3 billion. The team has reported the attacker’s wallet information to TRM Labs and Chainalysis, directly contacted relevant exchanges, and is preparing a compensation program for eligible users. All users who held Base/BSC SAND prior to the incident will receive a 1:1 compensation in Ethereum SAND, with the claims process opening within two weeks.
