According to ChainCatcher, Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) told Cointelegraph that several asset management companies have consulted with it regarding the launch of cryptocurrency ETFs, but no company has yet submitted an application for approval to establish a crypto ETF. The SEC did not disclose the names of the companies involved. The Thai SEC also stated that it is still too early to determine whether the first products can be approved by the end of 2026, as the timeline depends on the readiness of applicants, the pace of regulatory review, and investor protection requirements. Thailand’s new regulations for crypto ETFs took effect last Friday, permitting asset management companies to establish and list spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs locally. Previously, some firms had provided Thai investors with Bitcoin exposure through funds linked to overseas ETFs. ONE Asset Management became Thailand’s first approved asset manager for a Bitcoin-linked ETF fund in 2024, followed by MFC Asset Management, which launched a fund investing through BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT).
The Thai SEC says multiple asset managers are consulting on crypto ETFs, but no applications have been submitted yet.

The Thai SEC confirmed that several asset managers have consulted on launching crypto ETFs, though no applications have been submitted. The regulator noted that CFT compliance and crypto asset classification will influence the approval process. It warned it is too early to determine whether products will be approved by 2026. New rules effective since last Friday now permit asset managers to offer spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs. ONE Asset Management and MFC Asset Management have already provided Bitcoin exposure through offshore products.
