BlockBeats news, on September 2, Tether AI Research announced the launch of multiple open-source AI translation models that can run directly on smartphones, laptops, and other edge devices, supporting offline translation without requiring user data to be uploaded to third-party cloud servers. Among them, TranslatePsy-AfriSLM supports 19 African languages, AfriNano supports 8, and EuroNano covers 9 European languages; the languages supported by the first model are spoken by approximately half of Africa's population.

Tether has also introduced a new quality assessment filtering method that removes up to 96% of low-quality open-source training data. The related model is now openly available for download on Hugging Face, and its research has been accepted by EMNLP 2026.
