As of 23:59 UTC on June 30, 2026, 612,823.66 XAU₮ tokens had been sold, an increase of 53,225.02 tokens compared to the end of Q1, corresponding to an additional 1.66 metric tons of physical gold reserves. At the end of Q2, XAU₮’s physical gold reserves amounted to 707,747.139 troy ounces, approximately 22.01 metric tons, with a total market capitalization of around $2.837 billion. Each XAU₮ token is backed by at least one troy ounce of physical gold on a 1:1 basis, with reserves consisting of 1,759 London Good Delivery bars and smaller gold bars, all stored in Switzerland. Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino noted that gold experienced its largest quarterly pullback in 13 years during Q2, yet investors continued to accumulate XAU₮. Tether International SA de CV purchased approximately 27.1 metric tons of gold in the first half of 2026, averaging 4.5 metric tons per month.
