Tesla previously sold the system for a one-time payment of $8,000 or a monthly subscription fee of $99. Although Musk did not specify the reason for this adjustment, part of his compensation is tied to business growth.

According to the compensation plan approved by shareholders in November last year, Musk must achieve multiple targets, including reaching 10 million FSD subscription users, to earn additional stock awards.
