ChainCatcher report: Tencent’s Interactive Entertainment Group (IEG) is integrating ARC Lab with its Game AI Engine team to form a new AI Gaming department (tentatively named ARC Lab), led by Chen Dong, Head of Public Technology at Tencent Games, with the goal of exploring AI-native games. The department currently comprises approximately 100 employees and plans to expand to 400–500 personnel, actively recruiting top-tier multimodal generation teams in areas including audio-video foundational models, video world models, and agents. According to insiders, the department’s early formation follows a talent and data supply chain model similar to Seedance and Keling, with a focus on investigating the feasibility of directly generating games through video models. Tencent IEG possesses strong financial backing—130.1 billion RMB in game revenue for the first half of the year—and approximately 10,000 H-series GPUs in computing resources, along with exclusive game data inaccessible to the HunYuan large model. Currently, Tencent’s AI game development is proceeding across multiple parallel systems: TEG provides foundational capabilities, IEG’s mid-platform handles tool integration, and four major studios advance independently, with no unified standard yet established. The final organizational structure is still under development and subject to official announcement.
